The face is one of Bertil Vallien's most recurring motifs — a mirror of the inner self, a window toward the unknown. In Brains Look, it takes shape as a cast glass object where colored powder is sifted onto the surface and reduced in the kiln to a turquoise shimmer. The eyes are covered by a silver leaf, closed or at rest. A work that carries Vallien's characteristic depth: simple enough to hang on a wall, complex enough to linger. Brains Look is made at Kosta Glassworks and is part of the Kosta Boda Artist Collection.

Crystal/Glass
About Brains:
The enigmatic Brains series lies somewhere between sculpture and functional art: paper weights, good luck charms, desktop accessories. Each handmade Brain is crafted in a different technique, each has its own story to tell. Made to collect and to give to someone very special.
